Change2020 were approached by a resources industry client to provide them with a solution to leading their people through a large-scale IT integration and upgrade. The Vendor had produced a plan for the systems changes that were to take place, but this did not provide any guidance or process to the organisation on how their people would be supported and communicated with to ensure the changes to the systems and new ways of working were successfully adopted.
With the current capability internally being mainly focused on IT project management and with a part time project team, Change2020 identified the need for ongoing project change management for the full life cycle of the project to ensure continuity of high level change expertise, effective change strategy and plan creation, communications planning and stakeholder engagement across a multisite organisation with a diverse stakeholder group.
Change2020 identified a Senior Change Manager in our team, who had extensive experience in large complex organisations, implementing or upgrading large-scale IT systems, and leading end to end change. Their experience working with diverse stakeholder groups as well as very different leadership styles suited the engagement due to the different business areas and geographical locations they were required to engage with. Significant strategic expertise coupled with the ability and willingness to roll their sleeves up and work operationally was the right balance for this project.
Our consultant commenced with the client and instantly made an impact by engaging, listening and learning from the Project Director, vendor and key stakeholders so they could form a robust change strategy that aligned with the systems and process changes being led by the vendor. Building rapport and developing productive and uniting relationships up front earned our consultant a high level of credibility and respect in the process from an early stage, enabling them to add value straight away.
As part of the Change2020 delivery framework, regular check-ins were held with both the consultant and the client to identify any changes in the project scope, additional resources required and to ensure that all communication was clear, transparent and value adding for all parties. The relationship with the client remained strong and the consultant not only performed outstandingly, but acted as a strong advocate for Change2020, building their reputation, whilst demonstrating the Change2020 values and behaviours that continue to set us apart.
